Edinburgh Art Fair 2015

The 11th annual EAF will take place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th November 2015. With 60 galleries showcasing the work of hundreds of established and emerging, national and international artists from all four corners of the globe, there will be literally thousands of artworks for sale including; paintings, sculpture, original prints, photography, ceramics and glass.

We popped along to the Edinurgh Art Fair last Sunday, and it was rather delightful. I love wandering around a room filled with so much talent, it’s more than a little inspiring… so, I thought I’d share with you some of my favourites from the show…

  1. I like the rabbit-person statues (though I think they should be more “covered up.” I like the sort of aquatic artichoke pottery in the middle. And, I like the flower-infused rabbit at the end. But, nude pieces really should be kept private, in my opinion, not for public display/sale. Unless you want someone to buy your nudity/dignity. That sounds a bit like prostitution.

    1. I think nudity is the most natural part of humanity, and the fact that we are so “covered up” about it, gives us horribly odd views on our own forms. Nakedness when approached in tasteful manners is one of the greatest arts.

      1. At the same time, what does nudity more often do than not? Either it causes self-conscious negativity, as you say. Or, it sparks the salivation of closet wolves who would likely do things with the nudity that some might deem hazardous to the nude’s life…in other words, “perverse.” So, for the sake of preventing such “perverse” behavior, I recommend nudity be reserved for the private domain. That would save some celebrities grief about photos they don’t want “leaked.” That would save so many children from molestation and other abuses. That would put a kink in the abundance of affairs. Etc. Etc.

The key word you use is tasteful. And, like beauty, that is in the eye of the beholder. Not every viewer will be a pervert. But, some will. And, that may be too many.
